Apple swaps leadership images with Memoji characters ahead of WWDC

Apple has given its leadership webpage a special update ahead of WWDC later today, swapping out the usual professional leadership portrait imagery with fun Memoji characters instead.
Memoji characters have played a big part in recent WWDC marketing, with this year’s marketing theme seemingly focused around iMessage and its features, such as the Tapback reactions used on the WWDC21 hashtag on Twitter, iMessage bubbles in the event’s live stream thumbnail, and Memoji characters across all of its promotional emails and Apple Developer app.
Rumors point to Apple giving Messages “big updates” with iOS 15, which is set to be announced today alongside iPadOS 15, macOS 12, watchOS 8 and tvOS 15.
In addition to the updated leadership imagery, Apple executives have updated their profile pictures on Twitter, featuring their Memoji character ahead of today’s special event.
