R.M.Williams replaces traditional checkout with iPhone across more than 60 stores

Australian bootmaker R.M.Williams has replaced traditional point-of-sale systems with iPhone across its retail network, giving staff a more mobile way to help customers and complete purchases.
The company, founded in 1932, now operates more than 60 stores and employs around 1,100 people across 15 countries. Its retail strategy centres on giving customers a more personal experience while maintaining the craftsmanship associated with the brand.
According to Apple, store employees use the NewStore app on iPhone to check stock, access extended inventory, arrange deliveries and take payment using Tap to Pay on iPhone without leaving the customer.
The same devices are also used for training, scheduling, internal communication and performance information. R.M.Williams says employees can learn the sales workflow quickly, while zero-touch deployment allows new devices to be configured remotely.
The company says the move to iPhone has contributed to higher sales and a more personalised in-store experience by removing the need for staff to step away from customers to use a fixed checkout.
Apple has increasingly promoted iPhone as a retail tool for businesses, with Tap to Pay on iPhone allowing compatible merchants to accept contactless payments directly on the device.
