Apple reportedly planning new entry-level iPad with A19 chip

Apple is reportedly preparing an update to its entry-level iPad, with the next model expected to gain the A19 chip while retaining the familiar design of the current generation.
The new iPad is among a collection of products Apple is expected to introduce by early 2027, as reported by Bloomberg.
The A19 chip first appeared in Apple’s iPhone 17 generation, and bringing it to the company’s most affordable iPad would provide a sizeable performance upgrade while extending the useful life of the device for future iPadOS releases.
No significant redesign is currently expected. Apple is instead believed to be concentrating on the internal upgrade, keeping the entry-level iPad positioned as the straightforward option for customers who do not need the additional display and performance features offered by the iPad Air and iPad Pro.
An A19 upgrade would also give the low-cost iPad considerably newer silicon, potentially improving performance across everyday tasks, games and newer software features while maintaining the lower price point that separates the model from the rest of Apple’s tablet range.
The entry-level model will form part of a wider iPad roadmap that is also expected to include a more powerful M6 iPad Pro and other updates across Apple’s tablet lineup.
Apple has increasingly spread product launches throughout the year rather than refreshing entire categories at once, and the next entry-level iPad is currently expected to arrive during 2027.
