Apple introduces monthly App Store subscriptions with 12-month commitment

Apple has announced a new subscription option for the App Store, allowing developers to offer monthly plans with a 12-month commitment.
The new model lets users spread the cost of a yearly subscription across monthly payments, while still committing to a full 12-month term. Apple says the change is designed to make subscriptions more affordable and flexible for customers.
Users will still be able to cancel at any time, but the subscription will remain active until all committed payments have been completed. After that, it will not renew unless the user chooses to continue.
Apple will show how many payments have been completed and how many remain directly in a user’s Apple Account. Customers will also receive email reminders, and optional push notifications, ahead of upcoming billing dates.
Developers can start setting up these subscriptions today through App Store Connect, with support also available for testing in Xcode.
The feature will roll out to users with iOS 26.5 and related platform updates in May, though it will not initially be available in the United States or Singapore. Once live, it will be supported across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Vision Pro.
