Apple Watch Ultra 4 is coming this week: Here’s what to expect

Apple Watch Ultra 4 is expected to arrive at Apple’s September 9 event, bringing a relatively restrained hardware update focused on performance, health and connectivity rather than a major redesign.
The rugged Apple Watch is expected to retain the familiar Ultra design introduced with the original model, with Apple instead concentrating on internal improvements.
A faster S-series chip is one of the most likely upgrades. The current Apple Watch Ultra 3 uses the same S10 architecture found in earlier models, so this year’s update could bring the first more noticeable performance jump in several generations.
Health and fitness tracking should also improve. As reported by MacRumors, Apple has been testing more continuous heart-rate collection and broader wellness features for its next-generation watches.
Apple Watch Ultra 4 is also expected to benefit from Apple’s continued expansion of satellite features. Existing Ultra models already support emergency satellite capabilities, and reports have pointed to additional features such as satellite-based Maps and richer Messages functionality.
Rumors earlier in the development cycle suggested Touch ID could come to Apple Watch, but more recent reporting has largely ruled that out for this year.
The same is true of a major redesign. Apple is believed to be working on more substantial changes for a future generation, leaving Ultra 4 as an evolutionary update rather than a reinvention.
The Apple Post recently reported on the wider lineup expected at Apple’s September event, with Apple Watch Ultra 4 set to appear alongside Series 12, iPhone 18 Pro and the foldable iPhone Ultra.
Apple’s keynote begins Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the UK, when the company is expected to confirm pricing and availability for the new Watch lineup.
