Apple expected to give iPhone 13 Pro improved ultra-wide camera with autofocus
TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that Apple is supposedly planning on introducing an improved ultra-wide camera with autofocus later this with the iPhone 13 Pro, which is expected to be announced in September.
In a note to investors, Kuo says while he expects the new and improved ultra-wide camera lens to be exclusive to the iPhone 13 Pro in 2021, Apple plans on rolling out the ultra-wide lens with autofocus to the non-Pro ‘iPhone 14’ in 2022.
Rumors claim the iPhone 13 lineup will have a smaller TrueDepth camera and sensor system, which houses the technology that powers Face ID, an upgraded A-series processor, 120Hz ProMotion displays, and larger batteries.
Leaks have previously shown glass panels expected to be for the upcoming devices, showing the visibly smaller notch and a repositioned earpiece.
In his previous research note, Kuo claimed iPhone shipments are expected to reach 230–240mn and 250–260mn units in 2021 and 2022, respectively (vs. about 195mn in 2020), thanks to what he calls a “specifications upgrade” on this year’s models, boosted by the U.S. ban on Huawei.
