Apple sets holiday Apple Books delivery deadlines for publishers

Apple is warning authors and publishers to submit books and important updates early ahead of the holiday season, with new Apple Books delivery deadlines now in place for releases scheduled between November 23, 2026 and January 4, 2027.
In an email sent to Apple Books publishers and seen by The Apple Post, Apple says books delivered after the specified deadlines may not be available on their intended release date because of the higher volume of submissions and updates expected over the holiday period.
For books due to launch on November 23, Apple is asking publishers to deliver their titles by November 9. Releases planned for November 30 or December 7 should be submitted by November 16, while books launching on December 14 need to be delivered by November 30.
Publishers targeting a December 21 release have until December 7, while books scheduled for December 28 or January 4, 2027 should be delivered no later than December 14.
Apple is also advising publishers against making changes between December 21 and December 28 because of the particularly high volume of deliveries and updates expected during that period. The company says important content, pricing changes and clearance changes should all be submitted by the relevant deadline.
The warning is aimed at publishers distributing titles through Apple Books, which gives authors and publishers access to Apple’s digital bookstore across iPhone, iPad and Mac. Apple previously launched Apple Books for Authors to provide guidance on writing, publishing, marketing and selling books through the platform.
Apple has made a number of changes to its publishing tools over the years, including retiring iBooks Author in favor of Pages, while continuing to use iTunes Connect for parts of the Apple Books publishing workflow.
The holiday warning follows a familiar pattern across Apple’s content platforms. Apple has previously warned App Store developers to submit time-sensitive updates early when review volumes are expected to rise over the holidays, even after ending its traditional seasonal App Store Connect shutdown.
For authors and publishers with late-November or December releases planned, Apple’s message is clear: submitting ahead of the deadline is the safest way to avoid a book or important update missing its intended release date.
