iPhone Duo will require a software update during setup

Breaking News iPhone Duo buyers will have a software update waiting for them when Apple’s first foldable iPhone begins arriving later this month.
Apple is shipping iPhone Duo with iOS 27.1 build 24A94232, but a newer build, 24A94425, has now been released ahead of the device’s launch. That means customers will need to update the software as part of the setup process unless Apple replaces it with another newer build before launch day.
The new build was first highlighted by MacRumors, which notes that Apple may be using the additional release to address bugs discovered as iPhone Duo reaches reviewers ahead of its public debut.
Apple could still issue another iOS 27.1 build or move the device onto iOS 27.2 before customers receive their phones, but either way, the software preinstalled during manufacturing is now set to be older than the version available at launch.
The Apple Post previously reported that iPhone Duo would ship with iOS 27.1, rather than the original iOS 27 release. The software includes changes specifically designed for the foldable form factor.
iPhone Duo pre-orders open Friday, October 16, with the device launching one week later on Friday, October 23. Apple’s first foldable iPhone starts at $1,999 in the United States.
