Apple’s touchscreen MacBook Pro could launch November 6

Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro could be just weeks away from reaching customers, with a new report pointing to Friday, November 6 as a possible launch date for the redesigned notebooks.
MacRumors reports that Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said Apple is preparing to introduce the new OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro models on October 27 or October 28, with a retail launch potentially following on November 6.
The timing is supported by activity inside Apple’s retail network. According to the report, Apple Stores are scheduled for a significant floor reset on the evening of Thursday, November 5 and into Friday, November 6, which could be used to prepare display areas for the new Macs.
That would put the retail launch just over a week after Apple’s reported October 28 media launch experience in Los Angeles, where selected media are expected to get hands-on time with the touchscreen MacBooks, a new iPad mini and M6-powered Macs.
The touchscreen MacBook Pro is expected to be one of Apple’s most significant notebook redesigns in years. The company is reportedly preparing 14-inch and 16-inch models with OLED displays, direct touch input, lighter enclosures and a Dynamic Island-style display cutout replacing the current notch.
The Apple Post recently looked at why the touchscreen MacBook could mark such a major shift for the Mac, after years of Apple keeping touch interaction focused on the iPhone and iPad.
Apple has also been laying software groundwork for touch input. Recent macOS 27.2 betas have added more touch-like interface behavior, strengthening expectations that Apple is preparing macOS for direct interaction with a MacBook display.
The upcoming high-end models are currently expected to use M5 Pro and M5 Max chips rather than moving to M6 Pro and M6 Max. Apple is separately expected to introduce a more conventional 14-inch MacBook Pro with the standard M6 chip, creating an unusually split MacBook Pro lineup.
We previously explained how those two MacBook Pro launches could fit together, with the standard M6 model focused on Apple’s newest silicon while the OLED touchscreen models take the bigger step forward in hardware design.
The November 6 date has not been announced by Apple and remains provisional. Retail floor resets can be used for a range of product and merchandising changes, so the schedule should not be treated as confirmation on its own.
If the timing proves accurate, Apple’s late-October product announcements would quickly roll into another busy stretch of launches, following iPhone Duo on October 23 and HomePod mini 2 on October 30, with HomeView and the new Apple TV 4K due on November 13.
