Apple closes above $5 trillion market cap for the first time

Breaking News Apple has closed a trading day with a market capitalization above $5 trillion for the first time, marking another major milestone for the iPhone maker as its shares continue to trade near record highs.
Apple shares closed at $342.96 on Wednesday, up 0.5% on the Nasdaq, giving the company a market value of approximately $5.01 trillion at the closing bell.
The milestone makes Apple only the second publicly traded company to finish a trading day valued above $5 trillion, following Nvidia. Apple had previously crossed the $5 trillion threshold during intraday trading, but had not managed to remain above it by the market close.
Wednesday marked the seventh time Apple had moved above $5 trillion during a trading session. Its shares climbed as high as $347.07 during the day, putting the stock close to its record high of $348.15 before it eased back ahead of the closing bell.
The achievement comes less than a month after Apple shares closed at what was then a new record high, as investors responded to the company’s latest product cycle, including iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Duo and the wider rollout of Siri AI.
Apple has reached the $5 trillion milestone less than a year after briefly topping a $4 trillion market capitalization, highlighting the scale of the company’s rise in value over the past 12 months.
The move was also notable because it came during a broadly weaker session for major technology stocks. Nvidia, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon and Google parent Alphabet all finished lower, while Apple ended the day in positive territory.
Attention will now turn to Apple’s next earnings report, when investors will get a clearer indication of how demand for the company’s latest products and rising component costs are affecting its financial performance.
