Apple has announced that iOS 27 will be released to iPhone users on Monday, September 14, confirming the release date for its next major software update following its unveiling at WWDC26 in June.
The update will be available as a free software update for compatible iPhone models, bringing major new Apple Intelligence features, Siri AI, performance improvements, customization options, enhanced parental controls, and refinements across the operating system.

One of the headline additions is Siri AI, Apple’s completely rebuilt version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence. Siri can hold more natural conversations, understand personal context across messages, emails, photos, and notes, answer questions using information from the web, and perform actions across apps.
Apple is also introducing a dedicated Siri app that keeps conversations synchronized between supported Apple devices, while Visual Intelligence is expanding through a new Siri mode in Camera. Users can point their iPhone at objects, food, products, and other items to ask questions and receive relevant information.
Apple Intelligence is being expanded throughout iOS 27, with new capabilities coming to Photos, Safari, Messages, Mail, Shortcuts, Passwords, and other apps. Apple has outlined the new Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features coming with its latest software.

Photos gains Spatial Reframing and a new Extend tool, while Safari can automatically organize tabs and monitor websites for changes including price drops and product restocks. Passwords can automatically replace weak or compromised passwords on supported websites, while Describe a Shortcut allows users to create automations simply by explaining what they want.
Apple is also refining Liquid Glass in iOS 27 with improvements to readability and contrast alongside a new control allowing users to adjust how transparent or tinted the interface appears.
Performance is another major focus. Apple says iOS 27 delivers improvements to app launches, Photos loading, AirDrop transfers, and other areas across the operating system.

iOS 27 will be available on Monday, September 14 for iPhone 11 and newer.
Users will be able to download iOS 27 by opening the Settings app and navigating to General > Software Update once the update becomes available.
