Can iPhone Duo run two apps at the same time?

Yes. iPhone Duo can run two apps side by side on its 7.6-inch inner display, making multitasking one of the biggest differences between Apple’s foldable and a conventional iPhone.
With the device unfolded, iOS 27 can use the larger display to show apps in Split View. That makes it possible to keep two apps visible at once rather than repeatedly switching between them.
The feature can be useful for combinations such as Messages alongside Maps, Safari alongside Notes, or Mail alongside another app containing information needed for a reply.
Why multitasking matters on iPhone Duo
Apple has traditionally kept iPhone multitasking relatively simple, while iPad has offered more ways to work with multiple apps. The Duo’s larger folding display gives Apple enough screen space to bring a more tablet-like approach to an iPhone.
Not every task needs two apps, and the outer display can still be used for normal one-app-at-a-time iPhone use. Split View becomes available when the extra space of the inner display is needed.
