Apple unveils all-new iPad mini with OLED display and A20 Pro

Breaking News Apple has unveiled an all-new iPad mini with a larger 8.5-inch OLED display, A20 Pro chip, a thinner and lighter design, and IP67 water and dust resistance.
The redesigned model keeps the compact footprint that has defined the iPad mini while shrinking the bezels by 24 percent and increasing the display size. Apple says the new Super Retina XDR display can reach up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness and offers more than twice the peak brightness of the previous generation.
Inside, the new iPad mini is powered by the A20 Pro, built using Apple’s latest 2-nanometer process. Apple claims up to 60 percent faster multithreaded CPU performance, up to 2.7x faster graphics, and up to 4.5x faster AI performance compared with the previous iPad mini.
The update also introduces an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, a 12MP Center Stage front camera on the landscape edge, a new Acoustic Display audio system, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread, and Apple’s C2 modem on cellular models.
Apple has also added support for a nano-texture display option and says the 512GB configuration includes a Dual 16-core Neural Engine for more demanding on-device AI workloads.
The new iPad mini starts at $699 in the US and £699 in the UK for the Wi-Fi model. Preorders begin Wednesday, October 28, with availability beginning Friday, November 6.
The iPad mini is available in midnight and starlight with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options.
