Apple working on all-new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro with aluminum top case

Apple is reportedly working on an all-new Magic Keyboard for its next-generation iPad Pro, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who says that the new accessory will “look even more like a laptop than the current setup,” featuring a larger trackpad to be more Mac-like, and more.
According to Gurman, for the first time on a Magic Keyboard, the top case — the area around the keyboard itself — will be aluminum, matching the recent design of MacBooks, giving the iPad a Mac-like aesthetic whilst also giving the keyboard a sturdier structure.
Writing in his weekly Power On newsletter on Sunday, Gurman says “I’m told that, when closed, the exterior shell of the Magic Keyboard will retain the cover material of the current model. It will also continue to have one USB-C port.”
With aluminum being a light material, it is unlikely that the switch will lead to a significant weight increase, although Gurman speculates that the change could see Apple up the price of the already expensive Magic Keyboard, possibly taking the starting price to $300.
