More than 1 billion iPhones are in use across the world, says Tim Cook
Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that there are now more than 1 billion iPhones being used around the world, up from 900 million in 2019, with the company’s active installed base reaching 1.65 billion devices – compared to 1.5 billion this time last year.
The announcement came as Apple reported on Wednesday its earnings for the first fiscal quarter of 2021, revealing all-time record revenue of $111.4 billion, up 21 percent year over year.
Speaking with Reuters, Cook said Apple had “two of the top three selling smartphones in urban China,” with the iPhone gaining sales in China from customers switching from rival Android devices as well as existing customers upgrading devices.
