Apple has announced that tvOS 27 will be released on Monday, September 14, confirming when the next major Apple TV software update will become available to users.
The update was unveiled during Apple’s WWDC26 announcements in June alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27.
tvOS 27 has been undergoing beta testing throughout the summer, with Apple releasing the first developer beta following WWDC26 before expanding testing to members of the Apple Beta Software Program.
Apple made the first public beta of tvOS 27 available alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, watchOS 27, HomePod software 27, new AirPods firmware, and visionOS 27 in July, as The Apple Post reported at the time.
The update forms part of Apple’s latest generation of software across its ecosystem and includes new features and improvements designed for Apple TV.
tvOS 27 forms part of Apple’s wider generation of software releases across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro, HomePod, and AirPods.
Apple originally said its new software would become available as free updates this fall following their introduction at WWDC26.
tvOS 27 will now officially be released on Monday, September 14.
Compatible Apple TV users will be able to install tvOS 27 through Settings > System > Software Updates once the update becomes available.
