Apple has announced an updated 10th generation iPad in China, available to pre-order starting October 19 featuring eSIM support, enabling cellular data connection without a physical SIM card.
Unveiled quietly in a press release on Tuesday announcing the new, more affordable Apple Pencil, Apple says the updated 10th generation iPad will support the eSIM cellular data scheme in mainland China, running on China Unicom’s cellular network.
Asides from support for eSIMs, the updated 10th generation iPad remains the same as the original model launched last year, featuring a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, the Apple A14 Bionic chip, a landscape camera, USB-C, support for the new Magic Keyboard Folio, and more in four colors.
eSIM support has been present on the iPad 10th generation in most other markets since its launch, with customers in China able to pre-order the device on Friday ahead of a launch beginning on October 25.
