Apple’s first set of OLED iPad Pro models are slated to arrive early next year, with analysts forecasting that over 10 million new 11-inch and 12.9-inch display panels could be ordered by Apple in 2024 for the new iPad models.
According to research firm Omdia, 2024 will mark the beginning of a transition to OLED across Apple’s iPad lineup, with suppliers LG Display and Samsung Display to handle production of the panels for the 2024 iPad Pro, with a recent supply chain survey suggesting that LG Display would handle 6 million units of both display sizes, while Samsung Display could make 4 million 11-inch versions.
As reported by AppleInsider, Apple’s iPad panel volume orders are estimated to have drop 36% year-on-year in 2023 to 45.4 million units, which would make it the lowest yearly shipment since 2020 for iPad displays.
The report follows after Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman claimed last month that Apple is working on its first major upgrade to its iPad Pro lineup in several years, with all-new M3 models in development featuring new, larger OLED displays and an accompanying new Magic Keyboard.

OLED displays have long been rumored to be coming to the iPad. In general, OLED displays offer a better viewing experience over LED thanks to several advantages in display quality including a larger color range and high contrast levels, better handling of darkness and lighting precision, and fast response times.
