Second iOS 17 developer beta includes AirDrop improvements, new Fitness settings, Apple Music crossfade controls, more

Apple seeded its second iOS 17 developer beta on Wednesday, allowing users to trial Apple’s next major software update for iPhone ahead of its planned public release in the fall.
With the update, Apple has changed the Software Updates screen on iPhone, added support for tapping two iPhones together for AirDrop, a new section in the Settings app for Fitness, and a new slider to control the length of crossfade in Apple Music.
Additionally, Apple has added a new option to toggle off notifications when StandBy mode is active.
Previewed at WWDC23 in June, iOS 17 features a wide range of improvements and new capabilities, including upgrades across the Phone, FaceTime and Messages apps, new AirDrop capabilities, StandBy, a new way to view glanceable information when iPhone is set down and charging, new interactive widgets, and more.
The beta, which is only available to developers at present, will be expanded on with a public testing program beginning in July, with iOS 17 compatible with the iPhone Xs and later, dropping support for the iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone X and iPhone XR.
