Online Apple Store down in multiple countries

Apple’s online store has gone down in multiple countries around the world, something which typically happens ahead of the start of pre-orders or the release of new products, with a new roadblock page showing to users visiting the online store through Apple.com and the Apple Store app saying the iPhone maker is “making updates” to the store and to “check back soon.”
It isn’t clear what updates Apple is making to the online Apple Store. As of the time of writing, the store is down for customers in the United States, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and more, with the reason behind the roadblock currently unknown.
Apple recently pulled the online Apple Store prior to launching its recent promotional offer in the United States, which offers shoppers purchasing either an Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K a free $50 Apple Gift Card for a limited time.
Update: The reason the online Apple Store was pulled has now become clear. Apple has launched a promotional that offers shoppers purchasing either an Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K until August 15 a free Apple Gift Card.
