Bug in watchOS 8.3 causes problems for third-party chargers according to users
Apple released watchOS 8.3 last week to address overall performance and bug fixing. Now, according to users, their third-party chargers seemingly have stopped fully charging their devices.
Multiple Apple Watch owners have started to report their watches will no longer charge more than about 2% before stopping entirely, while others have actually reported a battery drain while connected to the charger. However, when placed on the official Apple branded charger, the watch charges as expected. Other users also reporting this was the same case for them. It was initially suspected the issue was limited to the Series 7 models, but other users have since chimed in on social media to claim older models are also experiencing the bug.
Oddly, it isn’t all third-party chargers that have been affected. Larger brands such as Belkin still seem to be largely unaffected. Most of the complaints stem from third-party chargers purchased from Amazon.
At the time of writing Apple has not acknowledged the problem and the only remedy to the issue is to use the Apple included charger.
