Apple launching $199 ‘AirPods Pro Lite’ in 2021, suggests report
Apple will launch new third-generation AirPods, dubbed ‘AirPods Pro Lite’, in the first half of next year, according to a new report from Korean news source TheElec.
The new earbuds, which are expected to feature the same design as the AirPods Pro without the active noise cancellation technology, will reportedly be priced 20% cheaper than the AirPods Pro at $249, which would put them at $199.
Parts for the upcoming ‘AirPods Pro Lite’ were leaked earlier this year, showing the rumored new design of the AirPods Pro-style buds.
Apple will launch a Lite version of its Airpods Pro wireless earphones without noise canceling feature in the first half of 2021, TheElec has learned. A person familiar with the matter said the Lite version will be priced 20% cheaper than the normal Airpods Pro which has noise canceling tech.
A $199 price point would put the new ‘AirPods Pro Lite’ at the same price as the current AirPods with Wireless Charging Case, suggesting the new 2021 model would replace the existing entry-level AirPods.
Reports have long referred to the next-generation AirPods as the‘AirPods Pro Lite,’ presumably due to the expected design similarities between both models. The earbuds won’t likely use the ‘Lite’ title at launch.
