Apple is poised to debut its inaugural M4 Mac models later this year. Anticipated highlights include an upgraded 24-inch iMac and a budget-friendly 14-inch MacBook Pro, both boasting the latest Apple Silicon technology. These releases are slated for the year’s end, paving the way for subsequent introductions of the new chips in the MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro, projected for 2025.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will emphasize the artificial intelligence capabilities of the M4 chip series, with the entire Mac lineup expected to receive an M4 upgrade, unlike the current Mac lineup, which he says he is ”all but assured that at least some of Apple’s high-end desktops” will skip the M3 chip series and will continue to use the M2 chip until their next refresh in 2025.
Gurman suggests that Apple’s inaugural M4 Mac models will include an upgraded 24-inch iMac and a low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro which are slated to launch before the end of 2024.
Following the launch of these machines, new 14-inch and 16-inch high-end MacBook Pros with M4 Pro/Max chips are expected between the end of 2024 and early 2025, as well as a Mac mini in both M4 and M4 Pro configurations, coming between the end of 2024 and early 2025, new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Airs, slated for around spring 2025, and a Mac Studio with a high-end M4 chip, coming around the middle of 2025.
Additionally, a new Mac Pro with an M4 Ultra chip is rumored to launch in the second half of 2025.
