Reports abound that Apple is on the cusp of unveiling fresh iterations of its iPad Air and iPad Pro, possibly mere weeks, if not days, away. However, the launch of these devices might occur with less pomp than some of Apple’s previous unveilings. A recent update from Taiwanese supply chain publication DigiTimes hints that Apple is leaning towards forgoing a special event to herald the arrival of these two devices.
As reported by MacRumors, DigiTimes suggest that Apple will unveil the new arrivals in a press release shared on its website, similar to how it announced its recently launched 2024 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air, which were added to the online Apple Store following a press release online.
Apple’s next-generation iPad Pro is rumored to be powered by the M3 chip, currently found in the iMac, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, with the device slated to feature new OLED displays, offering a better viewing experience over LED on the current-generation models thanks to several advantages in display quality including a larger color range and high contrast levels, better handling of darkness and lighting precision, and fast response times.
Initially, rumors pointed to the 2024 iPad Pro lineup potentially reaching a hefty $2,000 price tag, particularly for the largest model. However, a subsequent report refutes these earlier claims, suggesting a more moderate price adjustment. Instead, indications point towards a relatively modest uptick in pricing, hovering around $160 above the current models, which currently commence at $799 and $1099 respectively.
Rumors suggest that the 2024 iPad Air will be available in two sizes: 10.9-inches and 12.9-inches.
The device is expected to feature a redesigned rear camera layout, with both the camera and flash housed in a protruding rectangular module, similar to that seen on the iPhone X.
The 2024 iPad Air is expected to feature the M2 chip with Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E.
