Apple to confirm iPhone 12 event date this week, claims Mark Gurman
As rumors point to Apple announcing the Apple Watch Series 6 and all-new iPad Air 4 on Tuesday, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has said on Twitter he expects this week to see Apple confirm the date for its upcoming 2020 iPhone event, where the company will debut the iPhone 12, likely alongside AirTags, new over-ear headphones, and more.
Gurman says rather than announcing new products this week as suggested by prominent leaker Jon Prosser, Apple will instead confirm the date of a WWDC-style stream scheduled for mid-September, which he previously has claimed will see Apple debut a smaller, more affordable HomePod smart speaker amongst a wave of new hardware across almost all product categories.
Gurman also previously claimed that Apple would announce ‘Apple One,’ a new subscription bundle that combines Apple services such as Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and Apple TV+ into one single package.
I wouldn’t get too excited about rumors of new Apple products appearing this week. More likely I think: an announcement of the upcoming (of course virtual) September iPhone/Apple Watch event.

In response to Jon Prosser’s earlier tweet, which said Apple has a press release scheduled to be published on Tuesday (September 8) at 9:00am EST, likely for the Apple Watch and iPad Air 4, Gurman says “I wouldn’t get too excited about rumors of new Apple products appearing this week.”

In a follow-up, Gurman also dismisses Prosser’s previous suggestion that Apple wouldn’t announce the iPhone 12 until October.
