Apple announcing iPhone 12, AirTags, Apple Watch Series 6, and more in October, claims report
Apple is said to be planning to announce the iPhone 12, next-generation Apple Watch Series 6, the long-awaited AirTags item trackers, and more during an event in mid-October, according to a report from Japanese site Mac Otakara (via MacRumors).
Citing rumors from “Chinese suppliers,” the news outlet claims Apple initially planned to release AirTags around the same time that the 2020 iPhone SE was launched, but it Tile-like trackers were delayed, likely due to the impact COVID-19 had on production.
The news follows after prolific leaker Jon Prosser claimed Apple would unveil updated iPads and new Apple Watch models during the second week of September, with an iPhone 12 launch event planned for the week commencing October 12.
AirTags are expected to attach to valuables, such as wallets, backpacks, keys, and more, allowing users to track their belongings in the new Find My app on iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
Today’s report claims iOS 14 will update the Find My app to support Apple’s new App Clips feature, but no further information was shared about the rumored devices.
This year’s new iPhone lineup is expected to prompt a “supercycle” of upgrades. To recap, Apple is expected to release four new iPhone models this fall: a 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 to replace the current iPhone 11, and a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max.

All four of this year’s new models are expected to offer 5G cellular performance, with this set to be one of the biggest selling points for the new models, alongside an all-new design similar to the squared design of the iPad Pro.
The report does not offer any information on when the new hardware will ship to customers.
