‘AirTags’ may not launch until late 2020, tens of millions of units to be produced this year
Apple may not release its Tile-like physical item trackers until late 2020, suggests leading industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who claims suppliers will produce tens of millions of units in the second or third quarter of this year.
Within a note to investors, via 9to5Mac, Kuo expects Apple system-in-package partners to ramp up production of the ultra-wide band “AirTags” throughout the second half of 2020.
While an official release date for the item trackers is unknown, the timescale shared by Kuo suggests we may see “AirTags” launched alongside the iPhone 12 in September, with Apple possibly taking to the stage in June at WWDC 2020 to unveil the new hardware.
