Apple releases iPadOS 27 with Siri AI and new Apple Intelligence features

Apple has released iPadOS 27, bringing Siri AI, expanded Apple Intelligence capabilities and a collection of performance and system improvements to compatible iPad models.
The free software update is available through Settings > General > Software Update on supported devices, including recent iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad, and iPad mini models.
Siri AI is one of the biggest additions. Apple’s rebuilt assistant supports more natural conversations, richer responses and personal context, while a dedicated Siri app lets users revisit previous conversations. Siri AI is initially rolling out in English.
Apple Intelligence is also more deeply integrated across apps including Photos, Messages and Safari. Visual Intelligence on iPad can understand content displayed onscreen and help users search for information or take action without leaving what they are doing.
Photos receives new AI-powered editing tools, while Image Playground expands its image-generation capabilities. Apple says the new intelligence features are designed to work alongside the larger canvas and multitasking capabilities of iPad.
iPadOS 27 also includes improvements at the system level intended to make supported iPads feel faster and more responsive, alongside refinements to Apple’s Liquid Glass interface.
As with iOS 27, availability of individual Apple Intelligence features depends on the iPad model and chip. An iPad being compatible with iPadOS 27 does not necessarily mean it supports every Siri AI or Apple Intelligence capability.
Apple previewed iPadOS 27 at WWDC26 in June and has spent the summer testing the update with developers and public beta testers before today’s release.
