iOS 27’s new Siri app could launch in beta with auto-deleting chat history, report says

Apple’s rumored standalone Siri experience could launch in beta with iOS 27, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, with the new app also expected to include auto-deleting chat history options.
Gurman previously reported that Apple is developing a significantly upgraded version of Siri designed to work more like a conversational AI assistant. The system is said to be integrated directly into Apple’s software rather than released as a separate App Store app.
The upgraded assistant is reportedly based on a custom model derived from Google’s Gemini technology. According to earlier reports, the new Siri would be capable of searching the web, generating images, summarizing information, helping with coding tasks, and analyzing uploaded files. It’s also expected to make greater use of personal on-device data, while understanding on-screen content and adjusting system settings.
In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said internal versions of iOS 27 currently label the experience as a “beta,” with a setting allowing users to leave the Siri beta program entirely. According to Gurman, that suggests Apple could continue branding the new Siri features as unfinished even when iOS 27 launches publicly later this year.
Gurman also said the new Siri app will support auto-deleting conversation history. Similar to the Messages app, users will reportedly be able to automatically remove chats after 30 days, after one year, or keep them indefinitely.
