Apple rumored to launch new iMac with refreshed color options later this year

Apple is rumored to be preparing a new iMac with updated color options, marking what could be the first major refresh of the desktop’s color lineup since the Apple silicon redesign in 2021.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is planning to release an updated iMac later this year. Writing in his weekly Power On newsletter on Sunday, Gurman said the new iMac is expected to arrive after refreshed Mac Studio models, which are currently anticipated around the middle of 2026.
Apple introduced the current design with the M1 iMac in 2021, bringing a thinner chassis and a range of bright color options. The desktop launched in seven finishes: blue, green, pink, yellow, orange, purple, and silver. When Apple updated the machine with the M3 chip in 2023, the company kept the same color lineup unchanged.
Apple did make small adjustments to the colors in 2024. While the overall selection remained the same, the tones were slightly refined, with a more saturated blue, a brighter green, a more vivid pink, a warmer yellow, a richer orange, and a darker purple. A new iMac release later this year could mark the first significant overhaul of the device’s color options in five years if Apple decides to introduce an entirely new palette.
