Upgraded Apple Vision Pro headset with M5 chip and Apple Intelligence support in development, analyst reports

Apple is reportedly working on an upgraded Apple Vision Pro headset featuring the M5 chip and Apple Intelligence support, according to reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who says that the new headset will enter mass-production in the second half of 2025.
In a recent post on Medium, Kuo claims that the main selling point of the second-generation Apple Vision Pro headset will be the integration of Apple Intelligence with spatial computing. There won’t be any major hardware changes, asides from an M5 chip, up from the M2 in the current-generation model, which will significantly improve computing power “and ensure the best Apple Intelligence user experience,” he notes.
“If the M5 Vision Pro can integrate something like OpenAI’s Sora, it may elevate the user experience of the head-mounted display device to unimaginable levels. The impact of text-to-video AI models on the head-mounted display device experience will likely be more impressive than on existing mainstream consumer electronics,” writes Kuo.
Asides from the upgraded M5 Apple Vision Pro, Apple is said to be working on a more affordable version of the headset, dubbed “Apple Vision,” which is expected to become a more mainstream product for the average consumer unlike the $3,499 Apple Vision Pro which is targeted as a high-end toy for the wealthy.
Like the second-gen Apple Vision Pro, Apple’s more affordable “Apple Vision” is also expected to enter mass production in 2025.
