OLED iPad Pro could cost up to $2,000, supply chain sources claim
Apple has long been rumored to be working on two new OLED iPad Pro models, which could launch as soon as later this year. As the expected launch nears, a new report citing supply chain sources claims that the new devices could cost as much as $2,000 for the largest model in the lineup.
A new report on the news aggregator account “yeux1122” on the Naver blog (via MacRumors) has said that the 11-inch OLED iPad Pro will likely start at $1,500, with the larger 12.9-inch model expected to start between $1,800 – $2,000 depending on the user’s storage configuration.
In comparison, the current-generation iPad Pro starts at $799 for the 11-inch model, and $1,099 for the 12.9-inch version.
OLED displays have long been rumored to be coming to the iPad. In general, OLED displays offer a better viewing experience over LED thanks to several advantages in display quality including a larger color range and high contrast levels, better handling of darkness and lighting precision, and fast response times.
The pricing report follows after Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman claimed in late 2023 that Apple is working on its first major upgrade to its iPad Pro lineup in several years, with all-new M3 models in development featuring new, larger OLED displays and an accompanying new Magic Keyboard.
