Apple to end Apple ID balance purchases in Singapore from July 1
Apple has announced that beginning July 1, 2024, users in Singapore will be unable to make purchases with an Apple ID balance.
Any App Store & iTunes gift cards redeemed before then can still be used toward digital purchases, and Apple Store gift cards are unaffected by this change, and customers can continue to use them at Apple Stores.
First spotted by MacRumors, Apple has updated its Support webpage in Singapore to reflect the change, which the site suggests has been introduced in relation to new rules introduced by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
“After spending your balance is no longer possible, Apple will begin to automatically issue refunds for any remaining Apple ID balance to users in Singapore. If you have a balance, your money will be refunded to the default credit or debit card on file as a payment method for your Apple ID,” says Apple.
