Apple is reportedly in discussions with Google to bring Gemini AI features to iPhone beginning with iOS 18, reports Bloomberg.
Gemini, a generative AI model developed by Google, is reportedly at the center of discussions, according to people cited by Bloomberg who are familiar with the situation.
Google is said to be in “active negotiations” to let Apple license Gemini features, which will form part of the new AI capabilities rumored to be coming to iPhone this year with the release of iOS 18.
According to Bloomberg, Apple also recently held discussions with OpenAI and has considered using its model.
It what is described as a “blockbuster agreement that would shake up the AI industry,” Apple is allegedly seeking permission to integrate Google Gemini AI features within iOS to enable offline AI capabilities.
Rumors suggest that iOS 18 will include generative AI features across a wide range of the default Apple apps, including Messages, Apple Music, Pages, Keynote, and Siri.
