Apple updates AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max firmware versions
Apple has pushed a new firmware update for AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max, though it is not known what new features or bug fixes the updates include.
Releasing alongside another unspecified firmware update for the MagSafe Charger on Thursday, Apple has upped the second-generation AirPods and AirPods Max firmware versions from 4A400, and AirPods Pro and AirPods 3 firmware versions from 4B66, to 4C165 (version 4.2) for all models.
Firmware updates begin installing automatically over-the-air while the AirPods are connected to an iOS device.
To check whether your AirPods have been upgraded to the latest firmware version, make sure the AirPods are connected to your iOS device and open the Settings app. Tap General → About then tap AirPods. Here you will see the firmware version your AirPods are currently using.
