Apple is slated to release its first-ever update to the AirPods Max lineup in late 2024, according to analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International Tech Research, who claims that assemblers will ramp up production of the next-gen AirPods Max in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The new second-generation AirPods Max are expected to introduce USB-C charging and possibly new color options, with the update expected to be minor, leaving not a lot changed since the original version of the over-ear headphones launched in December, 2020.
Two years ago, rumors circulated that Apple was preparing a color refresh for the AirPods Max. However, those rumors never materialized.
AirPods Max are Apple’s premium over-ear headphones. The headphones feature a sleek stainless steel frame with breathable knit mesh canopy and soft, breathable ear cushions for comfort. They offer high-fidelity sound powered by custom-built dynamic drivers and computational audio.
Key features include active noise cancellation to block out external noise, Transparency Mode for staying aware of surroundings, spatial audio with dynamic head tracking for immersive 3D sound, and adaptive EQ for personalized audio performance.
