AirPods 3 again rumored not to be launching until later this year
Up until recently, it was widely rumored that Apple would announce new third-generation AirPods later this month, featuring a major redesign that would leave the earbuds looking similar to the premium AirPods Pro.
Several leakers have shared images claiming to show the new AirPods 3 and their accompanying wireless charging case, with reports claiming Apple is ready to ship the new earpods shortly after they would be announced towards the end of March.
However, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is usually fairly accurate when it comes to his predictions, cast doubt on the rumors last week by claiming the new AirPods wouldn’t start mass production until the third quarter of 2021, seemingly squashing hopes of new models launching anytime soon.
Now, a post from reliable leaker L0vetodream on Chinese social networking site Weibo (via 9to5Mac) has backed up Kuo’s earlier note, again alleging that Apple’s new AirPods 3 won’t be launching until later this year.
The leaker claims Apple’s current-generation AirPods will live on after the AirPods 3 are announced, dismissing an earlier rumour that suggested Apple would discontinue its current AirPods when the new models are eventually released.
Apple is expected to announce AirTags, updated iPads, and possibly a new Apple TV later this month. It was originally thought that Apple event invites would be sent today ahead of a special event on March 23 however, the lack of such invites today points to new products being announced through a press release, or maybe an event at a later date.
