US Customs seize OnePlus Buds after mistaking them for counterfeit AirPods
The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has proudly announced that it has seized a large shipment of what they mistakenly believe to be counterfeit AirPods, which actually are legitimate OnePlus Buds.
CBP tweeted on Monday that officers had “recently seized 2,000 counterfeit Apple AirPods from Hong Kong, valued at $398K had they been genuine,” linking to an official press release that praised CBP officers for “protecting the American public from various dangers on a daily basis.”
The OnePlus Buds were packaged in official retail boxes, but the officers intercepting the shipment clearly thought the products were knockoffs of Apple’s wireless AirPods – which to some extent the design is.
Hey, give those back! 🙃

OnePlus replied to the CBP’s tweet “Hey, give those back!”
US Customs and Border Protection hasn’t yet commented on the mistake.
Earlier this year CBP officers seized a shipment from China containing $4,000 worth of counterfeit AirPods.
