Plus sized 6.5-inch iPhone Xs reportedly named ‘iPhone Xs Max’
With only one week to go until Apple takes to the stage for its highly anticipated ‘Gather round’ media event, new tip-offs claim that the forthcoming plus sized 6.5-inch iPhone Xs will be named ‘iPhone Xs Max’.
The report from two unnamed sources “familiar with Apple’s marketing plans,” via 9to5Mac, have said that despite earlier rumors that hinted Apple would take an iPad-like approach to the naming of the two devices by calling both models iPhone Xs, Apple will now differentiate the handsets by calling the 5.8-inch model “iPhone Xs” – pronounced iPhone Ten S – and “iPhone Xs Max”.
Since the introduction of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in 2014, Apple has always used the word “Plus” to differentiate its larger sized handsets from their smaller counterparts. Its unclear why Apple is choosing to ditch the Plus from the next-generation iPhone line, and why “Max” has been used rather than “Pro” which Apple uses for its iPad and MacBook hardware.
In addition to the naming details, the two sources have hinted that the new iPhone models are expected to include 4GB of RAM, dual SIM options in some markets on the larger iPhone Xs Max model, and a speed boost with a new A12 chip.
The Apple Post can confirm that our own sources within Apple have hinted that the naming of the plus sized iPhone Xs within this report is official.
