Apple is said to be planning a ‘second-generation’ Apple Pencil to launch in March
If sources within Apple’s Asian supply chain are to be believed, the Cupertino company is said to be working on a ‘second-generation’ Apple Pencil to launch alongside three new iPad models during March 2017. While the report is vague and doesn’t give very much detailed information on the new features supposedly found within the ‘Apple Pencil 2’, Bloomberg have suggested Apple is developing a much larger range of their stock apps to be compatible with the iPad Pro accessory.
KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Quo has previously suggested that Apple is readying three new iPads, including an all new 10.5-inch iPad to launch in March 2017, bringing a Touch ID home-button built into the tablets display as well as an upgraded A10X processor. – Speculation is pointing to Apple manufacturing magnets into the next generation Apple Pencil to allow the stylus to attached to the edge of the iPad when not in use, similar to how the iPad Smart Cover connects on current iPad models.
While Apple Pencil has been incorporated into the iPad Pro experience for many, it’s far from perfect. The stylus can’t perform access edge gestures like pulling down Notification Centre or Control Centre, nor can you use it on older iPad or iPhone models due to the new display technology designed and demonstrated by Apple in the video above which aired during the Apple Pencil’s debut in September 2015.
