Apple officially reveals the iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max
It’s here! Apple has revealed the next-generation iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max.
Taking to the stage of the Steve Jobs Theater following the reveal of the Apple Watch Series 4 earlier in the event, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller on Wednesday introduced the world to the iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max, available in two screen-sizes, 5.8-inch (iPhone XS) and 6.5-inch (iPhone XS Max).
Apple’s new iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max bring an array of enhancements to the iPhone X experience, starting with a huge boost in performance provided by the new Apple designed A12 Bionic chip that can process 5 trillion operations per-second, compared to the 600 billion operations per-second on the previous A11 chip found in the iPhone X, providing a more responsive and zappier experience while using the device, in fact, Apple notes apps launch up to 30% faster on iPhone XS because of the power boost.
Face ID also sees a speed improvement aided by the A12 Bionic chip and other improved technologies. The upgrade to Face ID doesn’t appear to be a full-on ‘second-generation’ Face ID, but more of an improvement from the current generation on the now discontinued iPhone X.
As with all iPhone upgrades, Apple has improved the camera on the iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max. The camera on the device includes advanced depth segmentation, Smart HDR, advanced bokeh quality in Portrait mode photos, and dynamic depth of field that you can adjust after you take a photo. The 12-megapixel dual camera system features dual optical image stabilisation with 2x optical zoom.
Apple has enhanced the camera system on the two new iPhone XS models to feature larger pixels and a faster sensor to enable improved low-light performance and video stabilisation.
Compared to the iPhone X, the iPhone Xs offers users half an hour longer battery, and iPhone XS Max offers an hour and a half longer. – iPhone XS Max features the biggest battery that’s ever been put into an iPhone. As expected, iPhone Xs features dual-SIM functionality for using two phone numbers.
While the new iPhone XS models retain the same design seen last year with the introduction of the iPhone X, Apple has added a new Gold color option to the device, allowing you to choose between Space Gray, Silver, and Gold.
Customers can pre-order the two new iPhone XS models this Friday (September 14), with deliveries and in-store pick-ups starting the following Friday (September 21). Apple has launched three storage configurations for the iPhone XS: 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB – The iPhone XS will start at $999 in 64GB, while the iPhone XS Max will start at $1,099 in 64GB.
