Apple HomeView launches in 10 days — should you pre-order?

Apple HomeView launches in just 10 days, putting Apple’s first dedicated smart home display into customers’ hands on Friday, November 13.
Apple opened pre-orders immediately after unveiling HomeView in October, with the tabletop and wall-mounted models both starting at $299 in the United States and £299 in the United Kingdom. Apple says availability begins November 13.
For anyone still deciding whether to order before launch, the answer largely depends on how deeply they already use Apple’s ecosystem.
Why HomeView could be worth pre-ordering
HomeView brings several Apple experiences together in one place. Its 7-inch Liquid Retina touchscreen can act as a smart home dashboard, FaceTime display, entertainment screen, shared calendar, photo display, and Siri AI interface.
It can recognize different household members and surface personalized information including Messages, Calendar, Reminders, and Find My while keeping those experiences separate. Siri AI can also use broader world knowledge and, when paired with a compatible iPhone or iPad, draw on personal context to answer more useful questions.
For smart home users, HomeView can control compatible lights, locks, thermostats, blinds, cameras, and Matter accessories. The Apple Post’s complete HomeView guide covers the display, Siri AI, smart home controls, FaceTime, privacy features, and supported accessories in detail.
Why you might want to wait
HomeView is a first-generation product, and early reviews will provide a much clearer picture of how useful Siri AI feels in everyday use, how good the speakers and display are, and whether Apple’s new shared-home interface works as smoothly as promised.
The $299 starting price also puts HomeView well above many competing smart displays, particularly for households that mainly want basic timers, music playback, weather information, or simple smart-home controls.
There is also no immediate need to rush purely because pre-orders are open. Apple HomeView has been available to pre-order since October 13, and Apple has not announced that launch inventory is expected to be constrained.
So, should you pre-order Apple HomeView?
If you already use Apple Home extensively, have compatible cameras or accessories, and want Siri AI and FaceTime in a permanent shared household device, HomeView is one of Apple’s most interesting new products in years and pre-ordering makes sense if you want it on launch day.
If your main interest is curiosity around Apple’s first smart display, waiting for reviews is probably the better move. The biggest unanswered questions are not on the spec sheet, but in how naturally the device fits into everyday routines after the novelty wears off.
HomeView comes in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray. Both tabletop and wall-mounted versions launch Friday, November 13.
