Apple’s HomeView Ultra could understand its surroundings and act on its own

Apple’s more advanced robotic HomeView could be designed to understand what is happening around it and respond automatically, going far beyond simply turning its display toward whoever is speaking.
According to The Information, Apple has developed prototypes that use cameras and sensors to remain aware of their surroundings and act autonomously. The report says the device could, for example, turn on lights when someone enters a room or react to activity elsewhere in the home.
The report even raises the possibility of the device trying to tell a cat to get off a table, illustrating how Apple appears to be experimenting with a smart home product that does more than wait for direct commands.
HomeView Ultra could be much more than a rotating screen
The Apple Post has already reported that Apple is developing a higher-end HomeView with a roughly 9-inch display on a motorized arm that can rotate through 360 degrees. Voice recognition is expected to let it identify who is speaking and physically turn the display toward that person. Our earlier report explains how the robotic HomeView could track speakers around a room.
The Information’s latest reporting suggests Apple’s ambitions extend further. Environmental awareness would potentially let the device combine information from its camera, microphones and other sensors with Siri AI and Apple Home automations.
Apple’s current HomeView already acts as a central smart home dashboard, with support for lights, locks, thermostats, cameras and other accessories. The Apple Post’s HomeView guide covers how the existing model works with Apple Home and Siri AI.
Apple is already pushing HomeView deeper into home monitoring
HomeView can display HomeKit Secure Video feeds, recognize familiar faces and pets with supported cameras, and use Apple Intelligence to generate descriptions of recorded activity. Several of HomeView’s less obvious smart home features are detailed here.
The company has also been building more intelligence into Apple Home itself. iOS 27 can generate AI descriptions for HomeKit Secure Video recordings, giving Apple’s home platform more contextual understanding before any robotic hardware arrives.
A more autonomous HomeView would push that idea considerably further by giving Apple’s home device a physical presence that can react to people and activity around it.
The Information says Apple is aiming for a 2027 release, although the product may not be ready until 2028. The company has not announced the device, and its final behavior and feature set could change before launch.
