Apple HomeView: Everything you need to know about Apple’s new smart home display

Apple has officially introduced HomeView, a new 7-inch smart home display designed to bring Siri AI, entertainment, FaceTime, smart home controls and personalized information together in one shared device.
Announced as part of Apple’s October 13 home push, Apple says HomeView is designed to sit at the center of the home while still adapting privately to individual members of the household.
The launch marks one of Apple’s biggest moves into the smart home to date, turning years of rumors about a screen-equipped HomePod-style device into a completely new product category. The Apple Post previously previewed Apple’s wider October home plans, which also include HomePod mini 2, a new Apple TV 4K and Apple Home Collection accessories.
What is Apple HomeView?
HomeView is a shared smart home display with a 7-inch Liquid Retina touchscreen, Siri AI, built-in speakers, FaceTime, smart home controls and personalized Home Screens. It is available as either a tabletop model with a domed speaker base or a separate wall-mounted version.
The tabletop model uses an aluminum design with a stainless steel hinge that lets the display tilt for different viewing angles. Apple offers it in silver, starlight, rose pink and space gray. The wall-mounted model comes in silver and space gray.

The display supports True Tone and automatically adjusts its brightness between 500 nits and as little as 0.3 nits, allowing HomeView to remain visible in bright rooms without becoming distracting on a nightstand after dark. The interface also changes depending on how far away a person is, simplifying information at a distance and revealing more detail as they approach.
HomeView recognizes who is using it
HomeView can recognize up to six people by their face and automatically switch to a personalized experience for each user. Individual Home Screens can contain different apps and widgets, while personal content remains hidden from other members of the household.
Apple says sensitive information from apps such as Messages and Calendar is only surfaced when the enrolled user is recognized and their paired iPhone or iPad is nearby and has recently been unlocked.
Siri AI is at the center of HomeView
HomeView ships with Siri AI, Apple’s new conversational Siri experience powered by Apple Intelligence. It can answer general questions using broad world knowledge, understand what is being displayed onscreen and hold multi-step conversations.
When paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, Siri AI can also use personal context from apps including Messages and Calendar and take actions across supported apps. Conversations started on HomeView can continue in the Siri app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro.
HomeView is also an entertainment device
The tabletop HomeView uses two custom full-range drivers in the display, a down-firing woofer and two force-cancelling passive radiators, with computational audio used to optimize sound in real time. It supports Spatial Audio and can participate in multiroom audio setups alongside HomePod, HomePod mini and AirPlay speakers.
Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple News and Apple TV are built into the experience, alongside compatible third-party audio and video apps. Handoff lets users move audio from an iPhone to HomeView by bringing the phone close to the display.
FaceTime, Messages, recipes and Find My
HomeView supports FaceTime with Center Stage, allowing the camera to keep participants framed as they move around a room. Messages can be read and answered using voice or the onscreen keyboard, while Intercom can broadcast messages to other HomeView and HomePod devices around the house.
Apple has also built HomeView around common kitchen use. Recipes found on the web can be turned into step-by-step instructions, with hands-free timers and ingredient tracking available directly on the display.
Find My is supported too, allowing users to check the location of people who have shared it with them or locate devices and accessories including iPhone, AirPods charging cases and AirTag-equipped items.
A full smart home dashboard
HomeView can control compatible lights, thermostats, locks, blinds and other accessories using touch or Siri AI. A dedicated Home Camera face can livestream as many as nine camera feeds at once.
With a supported iCloud+ subscription and compatible cameras, HomeView can recognize people, familiar faces, pets, packages and vehicles. Apple Intelligence can also generate descriptions of HomeKit Secure Video clips, while Sound Recognition can alert users if a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm is detected.
HomeView works with Matter and Works with Apple Home accessories, as well as Apple’s newly announced Home Collection developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.
HomeView price and release date
Apple HomeView starts at $299 in the U.S. and £299 in the UK. Both the tabletop and wall-mounted versions are available to pre-order now and will be released on Friday, November 13.
HomeView is initially launching in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, the UK and the U.S. Apple says it will not initially be sold in the European Union because Siri AI is not currently available there on iOS and iPadOS.
