Here’s when we expect Apple to release visionOS 27

Apple Vision Pro users are approaching another major software release, with visionOS 27 expected to leave beta and become available publicly later this month.
Apple has not announced an exact launch date, but tomorrow’s September 9 event provides an obvious opportunity for the company to confirm its fall software schedule. visionOS 27 has been beta tested alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate throughout the summer.
Based on Apple’s recent habit of launching its major operating systems together, Monday, September 14 is a reasonable prediction for visionOS 27. visionOS 2 was released on September 16, 2024 alongside iOS 18 and Apple’s other major updates, establishing a precedent for Vision Pro software joining the main September rollout.
The Apple Post reported in August that visionOS 27 had reached its seventh developer beta, with Apple’s beta cycle entering its final stages ahead of launch.
Apple initially announced all six of its major 27-generation operating systems for a fall release. As reported by MacRumors, the company stopped short of providing specific dates at WWDC26.
The update is also part of Apple’s broader Apple Intelligence push. The Apple Post previously detailed Apple’s rebuilt Siri AI experience, which forms part of the company’s software changes across several platforms this year.
A visionOS 27 Release Candidate could be supplied to developers shortly after tomorrow’s keynote. If there are no last-minute issues, the public release should then follow within days, potentially alongside iOS 27 on September 14.
