Apple is approaching the public release of macOS 27 Golden Gate, and unlike years when Mac users have been left waiting until October, there are good reasons to expect this year’s update during September.
Apple has already said macOS Golden Gate will arrive this fall, but it has not provided a date. The company is expected to give its major software updates some attention during tomorrow’s September 9 event, when final release details for iOS 27 and the rest of its operating systems should be confirmed.
Recent history makes the week beginning Monday, September 14 a realistic window. Apple released macOS Sequoia alongside iOS 18 on September 16, 2024, and continued the September launch strategy with its major Mac software release last year.
There is another clue this year. As reported by MacRumors, Apple’s hardware schedule means macOS Golden Gate is likely to be available by September 21 at the latest, with a release during the preceding week considered entirely possible.
The software itself is already in the final stages of testing. The Apple Post reported on Apple’s late-stage macOS 27 beta testing last month as the company moved closer to its September software rollout.
