Apple has seeded the seventh developer beta of iOS 27, continuing its final round of testing before the software update is released to the public next month.
The update is now available to registered developers through the Settings app on eligible iPhone models. Users enrolled in Apple’s developer beta program can install the update by going to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and selecting the iOS 27 Developer Beta.
At this stage in the beta cycle, iOS 27 is unlikely to include major new features. With Apple expected to release the final version in September following its iPhone event, beta 7 is likely focused mainly on bug fixes, performance improvements, battery optimization, and overall stability.
iOS 27 is one of Apple’s most significant iPhone software updates in years, with the headline feature being Siri AI, a major revamp of the company’s virtual assistant powered by Apple Intelligence and Apple’s latest foundation models.
The new Siri experience brings more natural conversations, improved personal context, on-screen awareness, deeper app actions, and a redesigned visual interface tied to the Dynamic Island. Apple has also introduced a dedicated Siri app, allowing users to revisit past interactions across devices.
Visual Intelligence is also expanding in iOS 27, including deeper integration with the Camera app and improvements for iPhone models with Camera Control. Apple Intelligence features are also being added across apps including Photos, Safari, Mail, Messages, Phone, Passwords, Shortcuts, and Home.
Beyond AI, iOS 27 refines the Liquid Glass design introduced last year, adds new customization controls, improves performance across key system apps, and introduces changes including Photos keywords and star ratings, customizable slideshows, smoother Camera performance, enhanced Messages sending, Dual Capture in FaceTime, custom AirPods EQ, improved recovery tools, easier Apple Pay card switching, and AI-generated wallpapers.
As always, users should avoid installing developer beta software on their main iPhone unless they are comfortable with possible bugs, app issues, battery drain, and other unexpected problems.
Apple is expected to release at least one more beta before the Release Candidate version arrives after its September event. The final version of iOS 27 is expected to launch publicly shortly afterwards.
