Apple reportedly developing all-new AirTag-sized wearable AI pin

Apple is reportedly developing a new wearable AI accessory that could launch as early as next year.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the project has now reached a more advanced testing stage inside Apple, with the company exploring a tiny camera-equipped device designed to work alongside the iPhone.
The wearable is said to be around the size of an AirTag and has been described as a pendant-style accessory. Unlike failed standalone AI products such as the Humane AI Pin, Apple’s version would reportedly function as an iPhone companion rather than a completely independent device.
The accessory is expected to include cameras capable of gathering information about the user’s surroundings, likely tying into Apple’s wider AI ambitions and contextual awareness features.
Apple is also reportedly debating whether the device should include a built-in speaker.
According to the report, the AI pin could clip onto clothing, though Apple is also said to be testing ways for users to wear it around the neck using a cord or chain, turning it into more of a wearable pendant.
Reports of Apple experimenting with an AI-focused wearable first surfaced earlier this year, when The Information revealed the company was internally exploring a compact AI device. At the time, the project was believed to still be in the early stages, with a possible release around 2027.
Bloomberg’s latest report suggests development may now be moving faster than originally expected, though the project could still be canceled before launch.
The device would likely rely heavily on Apple’s next-generation Siri experience, which is expected to debut with iOS 27. Apple is widely rumored to be rebuilding Siri around more advanced AI systems, with deeper contextual awareness and tighter integration across devices.
