Apple could drop support for four iPhone models with iOS 27 later this year, according to a new leak.
Weibo leaker Instant Digital claims iOS 27 will only support the iPhone 12 lineup and newer, meaning four devices currently supported by iOS 26 would be left behind.
According to the leaker, the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and second-generation iPhone SE are all missing from the list of supported devices. If accurate, that would mean users would need at least an iPhone 12 or newer to install iOS 27, while iPhone SE users would need a third-generation model or later.
The report comes ahead of WWDC26 in June, where Apple is expected to officially unveil iOS 27.
Early reports suggest iOS 27 will be more focused on performance, reliability, and bug fixes than major visual changes, with some comparing the update to macOS Snow Leopard, which focused heavily on refinement rather than headline features. Apple is reportedly prioritizing improvements to system stability, battery life, and older parts of iOS.
Despite that, iOS 27 is still expected to include a major Siri overhaul. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has previously reported that Apple is testing a more advanced version of Siri designed to function more like a conversational AI assistant.
The upgraded Siri is expected to be deeply integrated throughout iOS rather than offered as a standalone app, with Apple reportedly working on new AI features powered in part by Google Gemini technology. Reports suggest the new Siri experience could become the headline feature of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27.
Even for supported devices, some of the biggest Apple Intelligence features are still expected to require an iPhone 15 Pro or newer.
