MacBook Neo leak reveals ports, Wi-Fi 7 and possible A18 Pro chip

More details about Apple’s rumoured MacBook Neo have surfaced just a day before its expected unveiling.
According to a new report from MacRumors, the upcoming low-cost MacBook will feature two USB-C ports alongside a MagSafe charging port. That layout mirrors what Apple already offers on the M2 MacBook Air and later models, suggesting Apple is keeping a familiar port setup rather than cutting back to reduce costs.
The leak also claims the MacBook Neo will support Wi-Fi 7. However, unlike the newly announced M5 MacBook Air and M5 MacBook Pro models, it reportedly won’t include Apple’s newer N1 wireless networking chip. That could indicate Apple is using a more conventional wireless solution to help hit a lower price point.
Under the hood, the biggest talking point remains the processor. The MacBook Neo is widely expected to run on an A18 Pro chip — the same class of chip originally designed for the iPhone 16 Pro. There is also speculation that Apple could opt for the newer A19 Pro, depending on positioning and supply. Either way, it would mark a notable shift, as the device would rely on an iPhone-class chip rather than Apple’s M-series silicon.
Previous reports have suggested the MacBook Neo will target everyday users, students and potential switchers from Windows laptops and Chromebooks. With a rumoured price below $700, Apple appears to be aiming squarely at the affordable laptop market while still delivering modern features like MagSafe and Wi-Fi 7.
If accurate, these leaked details paint a clearer picture of a machine that balances cost and capability — retaining key MacBook design elements while using mobile-class silicon to keep pricing competitive.
